Wigginton – Bathroom & Ensuites

We had the pleasure to work with a client that was creating a whole new home from what was previously a barn. Starting with just an architect drawing, we were able to sit down and discuss how each 4 rooms should look. Altogether we designed and created a family bathroom an ensuite each for parents, daughter and son.

Bathroom

The client wanted a separate bath and shower for guests to enjoy when they came to stay.

Creating a design where the shower was placed in front of the bath made for a defined ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ area. We used a full-sized bath for comfort and then built the wall out at the end of the shower to allow for alcoves and a concealed shower. Storage is always a plus!

For the basin unit we opted for a light wood colour to keep the feeling of warmth in the room and wall hung it for easy cleaning along with a matching wall hung pan.

The backwall behind the bath had pattered tiles to add texture to the room and then plain around the rest of the space to keep the room feeling spacious.

The client wanted a ‘his and hers’ shower with shaker style traditional furniture. The ideas started to flow when we decided to use 2 pieces of glass with an entry gap in the middle with 2 separate showers, meaning no unnecessary parts to clean with simple lines. Using a wet deck means that it is also very easy to clean. Building in the alcoves allowed for hidden storage without intruding on the space in the shower.

We then looked for a double bowl basin unit with storage underneath for those everyday essentials. The illuminated mirror cabinet offered additional storage with lighting to aid getting ready in the morning or late at night.

To create ambiance, we added the 3 ceiling lights so these could be used when you wanted a moody feel in the shower after a long day.

Ensuite 2

The last ensuite was for the couple’s teenage daughter. They wanted sage green incorporated into the space, so we did a combination of sage green and white for a bright feeling as there was no window for natural light. The alcove creates a focal point as you walk into the room, the basin unit adds storage, and the LED cabinet is ideal for getting ready!

We chose to tile the bath panel for a cohesive feeling and wall hung the pan for easy cleaning.

Ensuite 3

This ensuite was a particularly important one when it came to design as the client has a disabled son and didn’t want any glass around the shower that he could hurt himself on.

We opted to create stud walls that could be tiled. As the space was very small, a wet deck gave level access with the most space. With no door it allows for easy access should the user need any help.

The basin unit was designed with a semi pedestal so a wheelchair user can get underneath easily, and a wall hung pan adds to the easy cleaning aspect.

The 2 different coloured tiles create a clearly defined shower space and dry space even if vision is limited.

Like the other rooms, we again created an alcove for bottle storage so that the user doesn’t have to bend down when wanting a shampoo bottle and they are safely out of the way to prevent a tripping hazard.
