What an honour it has been to attend the BKU Industry Awards this year! This marks our third consecutive year of being nominated and making it to the final five in three categories. Being recognised by our fellow industry leaders and colleagues is a significant privilege. Join us as we take you through our memorable experience at the BKU Awards, from the exciting nominations to the unforgettable moments shared with industry peers.
The categories that we were nominated it were:
– Best bathroom retailer for customer service
– Independent bathroom retailer of the year
– Best bathroom design
Hortons have been around since 1951 and have served Tamworth and surrounding areas for many, many years, building up knowledge to ensure that we are able to survive for another 50 years. To be recognised as an independent retailer in our sector is amazing, especially as the market is so saturated by online stores. Small shops often get overlooked! As a small independent business, we pride ourselves on our customer service to be different from all the ‘chains’. To be nominated in this category was humbling.
We also try to develop our design skills each year to keep up with the latest trends and styles. The best design award is very prestigious and highly competitive with such amazing designers in our industry so even to make it to final 5 speaks volumes and are we proud?… Immensely!
This year we were invited to join Claygate Distribution and their colleagues at their table at the BKU ceremony which took place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London. The drinks reception started at 12pm, lunch at 1pm, awards at 3pm and then an after party from 5pm.
We arrived at the Grand Connaught Rooms at 12pm and started to mingle with fellow retailers and suppliers alike. This was followed by a 3-course meal served in the grand ballroom, followed with tea, coffee and a cheeky after dinner chocolate.
To kick off the event, a dance group perform on stage. They were fun, entertaining and made everyone want to put on their dancing shoes.
Russell Kane was our awards host, and had the audience in stitches before moving onto announce the awards one category at a time.
3rd award of the afternoon was ‘Best independent Bathroom retailer of the Year!’ and drum roll… WE WON! Such an exciting moment to go up on stage an receive such an award. We were pipped to the post on the other award categories, but we applaud all the winners of the day and are so thrilled to stand with them.
At 5pm the after party started next door at a club and what fun that was. Everyone had a dance and a laugh. The perfect way to end the day.
All in all, it was a very successful day, spent with wonderful company, lovely food and WINNING AN AWARD. We would like to thank all our valued clients and suppliers for their support over the years. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible. A huge thank you to all the staff at Hortons for their ongoing commitment to providing top quality service and here’s to another year designing your dream bathrooms!
