This year, Hortons celebrates an incredible milestone—75 years in business.

Reaching this anniversary is a remarkable achievement, especially in today’s fast-changing retail landscape. Over the years, we’ve adapted to changing markets and overcome many challenges. We successfully navigated the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout it all, we continued to grow while staying true to our values.

Since opening our doors in 1951, Hortons has grown from a local plumbing and heating merchant into one of the region’s leading bathroom and heating specialists. Across three generations, we’ve continued to invest in our business. At the same time, we’ve maintained the exceptional customer service that defines Hortons today.

Women Who Achieve Awards 2026

We were incredibly proud to see Laura selected as a finalist in the Women Who Achieve Awards 2026.

After meeting with the judging panel in March, Laura attended the awards ceremony at the Solihull Conference Centre. Sandra Garlick hosted the event, which celebrated inspiring women from many different industries.

The judges recognised Laura as a “One to Watch” and presented her with a certificate and medal.

They commented:

“Her infectious enthusiasm in whatever she does shows how she wants to make a difference, not to sell, but to make people’s lives better. Her knowledge of the metrics behind the business was impressive. Definitely one to watch.”

We’re incredibly proud of Laura and everything she has achieved. We’re also delighted to see her passion recognised.

Cathy joined Laura at the awards ceremony. During the evening, organisers recognised Cathy as an unsung hero of the business. Her hard work behind the scenes helps keep Hortons running smoothly every day.

BKU Awards 2026

On 5th June, we travelled to London for the annual BKU Awards at the prestigious Grand Connaught Rooms.

The evening began with a drinks reception before guests enjoyed a fantastic celebration of the bathroom industry. As guests of Merlyn, we caught up with suppliers, colleagues, and friends from across the sector.

This year, Hortons reached the finals in four categories:

• Best Bathroom Design
• Best Bathroom Retailer for Customer Service
• Independent Bathroom Retailer of the Year
• Bathroom Showroom of the Year

We were absolutely delighted to win Best Bathroom Retailer for Customer Service.

This award means so much because customer service has always been at the heart of our business. Whether customers are planning a full renovation or replacing a single product, we provide honest advice and expert support throughout their journey.
